For the Foodies...

Le Chateaubriand, November 13th
Paris

We visited this restaurant on our second night in Paris. They offer an eight course tasting menu nightly. The night we went the menu was pretty seafood driven. Some of the courses were a little out there for my taste, but you could definitely tell that they knew what they were doing in the back! The restaurant was a bit packed and the service was a little rushed, but overall a fun experience!

Ceviche shot - my favorite course from the whole meal!
Fried shrimp with raspberry powder

Cockles with walnuts, fresh cream and cold broth

Leg, breast, heart and liver of Squab with potato chips

Saibling with root vegetables and citrus
Sashimi with raw mushrooms, green onion and watercress - this tasted like the smell after it rains!

La Grande Cascade, November 17th
Paris

We went to this 1 Michelin Star rated restaurant with my friend Elise and her husband. They had all the luxury that you would want and expect because of that star, complete with a little stool to put your purse on. Despite our main course being a bit of a let down, the rest of the food was amazing!

Amuse Bouche - seafood roll with wonton and pumpkin puree
Veal sweetbreads with curried mousse, chestnuts and popcorn

Grilled shrimp with peas, onion and mango

Braised reindeer and citrus polenta cake

Blanc manger with roasted apples crusted with speculos and caramel
Praline cake and chocolate sorbet

Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, December 3rd
London

Meat Fruit - mandarin, chicken liver and foie gras parfait and grilled bread. This was so delicious and one of the most creative things I have eaten! We got a tour of the kitchen here and they said that it is a meat fruit making factory in the mornings!

Salamugundy - chicken oysters, salsify, marrow bone and horseradish cream

Cod in cider, chard and fired mussels

Black Foot Collar of Pork, hispi cabbage, lardo, ham hock and Robert sauce

St. John, December 6th
London

St. John was probably my favorite restaurant experience so far, the food was perfect and the atmosphere was relaxed. The service was so helpful and accommodating!
Potted beef, pickled beets and grilled bread.. this went perfectly with our Cote du Rhone!
Marrow bone - think meat flavored butter!

Rabbit saddle, fennel and aioli

Bath Chaps, dandelion green salad
